Rebecca Walker has primarily been involved in two very different COVID-19 response projects:
- the design of a new multi-disciplinary undergraduate course on pandemics, put together with colleagues working in anthropology and in literature studies. This course will be part of a new initiative at UNC to expand courses that cross disciplinary boundaries in the undergraduate curriculum. The class is scheduled to be taught in 2023.
- the NC Institute of Medicine's vaccine allocation plan, where Walker has been an advisory board member for the statewide allocation plan that was released on October 16, 2020.
The work on the advisory board for NC IOM is policy determination for vaccine distribution, which will impact on community health.
