Ourbreakroom.org is a website that serves as a virtual gathering place for healthcare workers from across the country. It is a place to decompress over poems, reflexive essays, and other pieces of art by and for healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. On the "Voices" tab, the team publishes work by healthcare workers. On the "Rays" tab, it posts poetry and dance/music clips by an array of artists from Alvin Ailey Dance Theater Company to YoyoMa, to Mary Oliver, Wendell Berry, Linda Hogan, Lucille Clifton, and many more. The project has been recently featured on Health Matters.
We have taken theories of narrative medicine as a platform for reflection and meaning-making, and applied them to create an online space that serves as an oasis for healthcare workers.
