Samantha Allen Wright is currently studying media responses to COVID-19. The ultimate goal is to show the necessity of the medical humanities, an interdisciplinary field which seeks to aid collaboration between the medical sciences and the humanities, to public health. By analyzing how narratives surrounding epidemics can have profound impacts on public health opinions, the work shows the necessary role the medical humanities can have in helping strengthen public health and media and science literacy.
Samantha Allen Wright's work allows for greater conversation between disciplines. The findings will help medical professionals and public health workers to better communicate vital information to the general public.
